Collegiate Challenge: Collegiate Challenge is Habitat for Humanity’s year-round alternative break program that provides opportunities for students from youth groups, high schools and colleges to spend a week of their school break building a house in partnership with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the United States. Seven reasons YOU should participate in Collegiate Challenge: (a) improve your leadership skills; (b) develop and strengthen friendships; (c) see the impact your work is having on communities; (d) learn more about poverty housing issues and how you can help; (e) visit new areas of the country; (f) affect a global cause by advocating on behalf of poverty housing issues and (g) help provide a simple, decent, affordable place to live for people in need. For more information on partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Dodge County, Inc. as a Collegiate Challenge team, costs, age restrictions, registration and insurance information; and general policies, contact Dean Smith, Habitat for Humanity of Dodge County, Inc., Chief Executive Officer, at dean@habitatforhumanitydodge.org  or by calling (478)374-4841.

Hosts/Hostesses Needed: Area churches, families and organizations are invited to be hosts/hostesses for the Collegiate Challenge teams. How?  In an effort to make positive connections, develop and strengthen relationships with people of a different culture, we are asking for people in the area to become a part of Team Habitat by sponsoring at least one or two meals a week for the team, church invitations, visiting the job sites, bringing snacks, or financially assisting through Team Habitat’s Rent  A Kid Program.

Rent A Kid:  A program designed when the local Habitat affiliate is not in the process of a house build. We will be utilizing senior high school students and college students in community projects where “rehab” work is needed. For more information on this program contact the Habitat for Humanity of Dodge County, Inc. at the Stuckey Habitat Complex on the Soperton Highway in Eastman by calling 374-4841.
